GPaste 50.9 released
by Marc-Antoine Perennou on August 31, 2026
It’s available there, get it while it’s hot!
This release targets GNOME 50.
If you’re looking for the legacy applet/tray-icon, it’s available here.
What’s new?
This is a maintenance release, headlined by a crash that hit anyone copying files.
- Fix the daemon crashing when copying files right after copying anything else: the file-list comparison read the clipboard’s tagged union without checking what it actually held, walking a text value (or a colour’s floats) as a list of files
- Fix a memory leak on every clipboard read: the file list GDK hands back is the caller’s to free
- Fix
gpaste-clientexiting silently with status 255, instead of showing its usage, on an unknown command or a wrong number of arguments
And don’t forget to run gpaste-client dr aka gpaste-client daemon-reexec after upgrading GPaste to activate new functionalities ;)
You can then run gpaste-client daemon-version to check that the correct daemon is running.
